The Dolphins

The Loomis Basin Dolphins (LBD) is a non-profit recreational swim team that serves the general Loomis area with over 250 swimmers ages 4 to 18. LBD has been a member of the Suburban Swim League since 1988.

The team utilizes the Del Oro High School pool and swim practice begins in May. Swimmers participate in eight swim meets against other local teams on Saturdays throughout the summer. The season concludes with a championship meet held at Sierra College the last weekend of July.

LBD employs one head coach, one assistant coach, and eight associate coaches, all former swimmers, most with previous coaching experience.

Our Mission

The mission of LBD is for each child to learn how to swim well and have fun!  In addition to a great form of physical exercise, swimmers also gain self-confidence and learn teamwork and discipline. The goal of LBD is to have a positive impact on the lives of our swimmers as both an athlete and as an individual.  This is done by:

  • Creating a fun, supportive family environment for the team.

  • Providing a goal oriented structure that focuses on hard work, dedication, and continuous improvement in swimming.

  • Emphasizing teamwork, commitment, and responsibility through friendly competition.

Family Fun

In addition to swimming, LBD has family activities such Family Fun Night, Spirit Night, and a team campout. On Family Fun night famlies compete against each other in thrilling events such as the air mattress relays or wet T-shirt race. At the end of the season there is a team banquet and awards ceremony to reward the swimmers’ hard work. Swimming is truly a family sport where the parents not only spectate, but also participate as timers, judges, or ready bench minders.
